Suede & Nubuck Care Guide

Step-by-step

  1. Remove any laces from the shoes and insert shoe trees into the shoes to help maintain the shape. Then brush the suede/ nubuck with a stiff bristled brush to remove any surface dirt or dust. Make sure to use a clean brush for this job. If the shoe has any stubborn ground in dirt use a brass suede brush to help remove it. Use this brush gently as it can damage the suede. 
  2. Use a crepe suede brush to restore the nap and pile of the suede. Don’t use too much pressure with this brush as it will naturally grip the suede. 
  3. Sometimes suede has mark that cannot be removed with brushing. You can remove most stains by rubbing it with a Gommadin suede eraser and/ or using Omninettoyant suede cleaner. This product comes with applicator brush to apply the formula to the suede, rub it gently onto the mark then leave to dry naturally and then repeat step one and two.
  4. After your suede shoes or boots have been cleaned you can apply Saphir suede renovating spray which will nourish, re-colour and protect. Make sure to follow the directions on the back on the can. Allow to dry for 10 minutes and then brush.
  5. To keep the shoes looking new and as clean as possible we recommend to use a waterproofing spray once or twice a month this will provide stain protection as well as protecting from rain, snow, grease and liquid stains. Use this in well ventilated area and leave to fully dry.
